“General Geology” is the first introductory course offered by geology majors in Colleges and universities. It is very important to cultivate professional interest and build professional knowledge system. It is also the most ideal course to integrate ideological and political content into the curriculum system of geology majors “four self-confidence” refers to “self-confidence in the socialist road with Chinese characteristics, theory, system and culture”. Integrating the ideological and political elements of “four self- onfidence” into the course of “General Geology” is an important measure to answer the fundamental educational question of “who, how and for whom” in the ideological and political construction of geology courses. From the perspective of geology, this paper discusses in detail the necessity and natural advantages of integrating the ideological and political elements of “four self-confidence” into the course of “General Geology”, as well as the ways and related contents of extracting the ideological and political elements of “four self-confidence”.
